Sára is ill, and I’m exhausted. She had high fever for a few days, and poor thing was quite miserable. Now she is better, but still can’t breath properly because of her full nose. I feel sorry for her, and I can’t sleep either. Today I was home with her, (my mother was looking after her this week) and the plan was that I will do some cleaning and knitting, and we go out for a stroll with the dog. Nothing of the above. I was sleeping all day long. Good job she was fine watching cartoons. I ordered some lunch, and that was it.

We were going out for the playground around 4 pm. Despite all of these sleeping, I still don’t feel strong enough to do anything. I hope I will not catch Sára’s disease. Instead of knitting, I’m trying to sort out some tangled yarn in my basket. Not too much success on this…. I still have a great big knot of yarn. I think this will be good for stuffing some amigurumi dolls in the future.

Finally, I have started the co-workers vest. It is going to be fast and easy, I just skipped it because I was interested in so many other things in the last few weeks.

If I will have some time at the computer, I’m intended to search the history of knitting a little. I’d love to see old knitted fabrics, and old techniques. Amazing, how old this craft is!

No wonder we can create so beautiful, sophisticated, intrigued patterns.

The first proper LYS in Hungary. I tell you how I want it to be:

It would be a nice, friendly place, with quality yarns. No acrylic. There is a few yarn shops in Hungary, and they sell ONLY acrylic. Enough of that.

My LYS will keep nice, interesting, and quality yarns. I want to introduce the country that not only acrylic and polyester yarns exist, because only a few of them know.

I want to show them real wool: not the itchy type, because they think: wool equals itching.

I want to show them the beautiful soft merinos, the superwashes, the ones you can wear next to your skin. I want to show them that there is silk, seaweed, milk, soy, corn, yak, camel, tencel, lyocel, and so much more to make yarn from! I would keep the pricey range, but of course the affordable brands as well. As long as they are quality. I had the pleasure to knit out of really good stuff, and boy, there is a difference!!! This is what makes knitting addictive.

And after I have the most wonderful yarn collection, I will set up the most exciting notions collection. People in Hungary doesn’t know what stich markers are for! We do not have even a word for it. My mom, who is a knitter of a lifetime, uses yarn pieces to mark stitches, and I was the first who showed her a stitch marker. She has about 5 or 6 pieces of knitting needles, one of each size she uses the most, and doesn’t start a new project until she finishes the first. OK, she is organised. But she just doesn’t understand the whole concept of having a selection of needles to choose from. To feel the joy of holding a nice needle, to feel the difference between metal and bamboo.

Point protectors. I guess the knitters’ 95 % never heard of them, or what they are good for. And I could go on and on with notions.

I want to show them the FUN of knitting. I want my LYS to be light, airy, not overcrowded with selves or tables. But of course there has to be a comfy table where people can sit down, do their own business, knit a little, have a coffee, or just chat.

I want it to be a place where people will turn up from time to time, to have a chat and meet the others, without feeling the pressure of buying something. And they of course will buy things, when they are tempted. And this is where I come in: I will tempt them for sure!

I would do classes: beading and crochet, knitting and other crafts, if there is a need for it.

Oh, my God, if I only could do it! I’m working on it, and I do hope that in 5 years time, I will be able to open this sweet shop. You are all welcome there.

Yesterday I was too excited to continue posting, now I’m trying to finish my list.

So, the Book and more swap: I’ve received my package, and I’ve ordered a book through Etsy. This long weekend I will look for a nice yarn to send it out to my partner.

Random Act of Kindness group: I’m expecting a few box of goodies from the wonderful ladies there: they will send stuff to my daughter, since this was my wish for March.

Still the RAC group: I promised to send out some Hungarian speciality sweets to a fellow Hungarian, currently living in the UK. She badly misses these sweets, and Hungary. I totally understand it, so I will fill up her stock.

I will write a letter to a Raveler’s brother, staying in Iraq, far away from his pregnant wife, who has difficulties with the pregnancy, and the baby is in a big danger. This was also a request from the RAK group. Aren’t these girls are wonderful?

I will have to collect the yarns I’ve promised to give away in the Yarn Karma group (note to self: the two Trendsetter Dune, and the Norvegian turquoise wool), so I can post them right away on Tuesday.

In return I’m expecting the following: an apple jacket (I’ve always liked them on Etsy, cool and fun stuff), and a super bulky wool for a hat.

I’ve ordered a few things from Etsy (I should stop going there. I just can’t seem to resist buying that great stuff, and I supposed to sell there…. Hello!) like:

- That gorgeous sterling silver dragonfly pin (I’ve always wanted one, exactly like this.
You’ll see, it is just the ultimate pin.)
- The book I’ve ordered for the swap – this goes to my partner straight away.
- Two strands of turquoise beads,
- One strand of red coral stick beads, to go with the above beads,
- 9 balls of special japanese yarn, which is treated with silver ions, to be antibacterial, and
a japanese tawashi book (great stuff, I tell you about it later).

Uhmmm, I think that’s all. Poor postman. I should invite him for a coffee next time he turns up….

Ah, and here is a picture about Sára, my 5-year-old daughter, holding the back of the Caftan Pullover, which is - this close - to be finished.

Now guess, which size I’m knitting?

I just couldn’t help it again. That thing called. The thing called The Caftan Pullover. I have so many things to do and finish before I should even thinking about touching anything else, but…. you know how these things work. It is like when the Chocolate calls your name in the supermarket. You just happily turn your head, and reach out for it.

The same thing happened yesterday with this pullover. I swear I heard my name from my knitting basket. It might be because this is the first project I make with the yarn recommended, and it makes me more excited. And this yarn is beautiful! Such a great stich definition, beautiful hand, and that drape! Yay! A very expensive way of having fun, but – hell, I deserve it.

And yesterday I deserved it well enough. Finally – and after a bad, bad argument – I handed my notice to quit to my bitchy boss.

And guess what happened at the end of that same day. She asked me in, and told me confidentially that she is going to leave too, before the end of the year. And because it would be too much effort to find a new PA until then, and for such a short period of time, is it possible that we can work together for the rest of the time? Now what could I say?
I said until I can’t find anything better, I will stay, but as soon there is an opportunity, I will leave.

I felt so exhausted when I got home, and you agree that my brain needed some calming balm. And this knitting was it. Made me totally happy just to see how fast it went, and how even the stitches look. And I love that cool, silky feel on my hands. I can’t wait to finish it and wear it, and I pray it would look nice on me.

I highly recommend this yarn, and this pattern for all those suffering from a bitchy boss.

If only I could get my hands on Norah Gaughan’s new booklets from Berroco! I would possibly go into her office, knock her to the wall with her table, and tell her exactly what to do instead of pestering the poor, hard working women in the laboratory.

Then I would go home, singing, and knitting away.
