Tomorrow I have to go to work again, and this time I need to decide if I want to stay for another 6 months or not.

I made a list, with pros and contras on both sides. Turned out clearly that I do not want to stay for a minute, even if the future is a bit blurry. So, I will go into my boss’ dreaded office tomorrow, and tell her that I will not stay until the end of the year. I want to quit as soon as possible. Preferably at the end of this month. Although I’m quite sure I will have to wait another month, at least until I teach the new secy.

Poor girl.

Anyway, I will let you know how did it went, tomorrow evening.

As I suspected, the drop-stitch cardi is a dream knit. It is going so fast, I feel that I can finish it next week. I have finished the back, and the left front is nearly done. It will be finished today, and I will cast on for the right front immediately. Tomorrow or the day after I will buy the zippers for the hood and the front. I think I will skip the zips on the sleeves. I don’t think I will need them at all, even they are decorative.

She offers free worldwide shipping, which is a bonus for me. And I have bought a nice lot of purse handles, and purse frames from her. Great stuff! And yes, I’m going to knit a few little purses, and probably a nice big handbag. I’m trying to try out colorwork on the smaller purses. It is like knitting a swatch with a purpose. I will practice, and yet I will be able to use these small pieces.

If I’m too tired of my Caftan pullover (currently my main project) – I will just pull out a little beauty, and knit a few rows. Well, at least this is the plan.

I will have to put aside the Caftan soon – I will run out of yarn. Hopefully by that time my yarn for the drop-stitch cardi will arrive, and I can start that project.

It is from the same issue of Interweave Knits as the Caftan. I have been looking for this yarn all over Ravelry, and finally found it. A nice lady agreed to sell it to me for a reasonable price, and it is on the way to me already. Same color as in the picture. I have only one concern: the zips. I have never sewed in zips into anything, and especially into knitted fabric. Eh, we learn something new every day. And I have my mother to help me

Sára is ill, and I’m exhausted. She had high fever for a few days, and poor thing was quite miserable. Now she is better, but still can’t breath properly because of her full nose. I feel sorry for her, and I can’t sleep either. Today I was home with her, (my mother was looking after her this week) and the plan was that I will do some cleaning and knitting, and we go out for a stroll with the dog. Nothing of the above. I was sleeping all day long. Good job she was fine watching cartoons. I ordered some lunch, and that was it.

We were going out for the playground around 4 pm. Despite all of these sleeping, I still don’t feel strong enough to do anything. I hope I will not catch Sára’s disease. Instead of knitting, I’m trying to sort out some tangled yarn in my basket. Not too much success on this…. I still have a great big knot of yarn. I think this will be good for stuffing some amigurumi dolls in the future.

Finally, I have started the co-workers vest. It is going to be fast and easy, I just skipped it because I was interested in so many other things in the last few weeks.

If I will have some time at the computer, I’m intended to search the history of knitting a little. I’d love to see old knitted fabrics, and old techniques. Amazing, how old this craft is!

No wonder we can create so beautiful, sophisticated, intrigued patterns.

It was going to be a hat for me. Then it turned out too small, so I gave it to my daughter. It was too big for her. Now it is owned by a friends daughter, who is modelling it on the picture. She looks fab in it. The stitch markers an example of what I sell in my Etsy shop at the moment.

These things are nothing to do with what I want to talk about today, just for your enchantement.

I’m determent that I’m going to make my living on what I like to do. I’m sick and tired of shifting papers all day long, doing what my anti-social boss wants me to do, and pretend that I care. I do not care anymore. And I do not care if they are hurt by it. Life is too short to live as others want. It is my life, and I want to live it they way I like.

My mother and my husband thinks it would be silly to quit a well paid job for something so insecure like an own business. But I know, if I don’t do it now, I will never do it. And I’m sure I would be unhappy for the rest of my life.

I’m 35, now. Say, I will give this business a try for 5 years. If I fail, I couldstill go back to corporate life. God give me strength, I wish I will not have to. I’m sick, sick, sick of it.

I feel phisycally sick in the morning when I realise I have to go again to the office. And it is not just because of the boss I hate, it is the whole lifestyle.

I spend my life in a small cage all day long, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, sometimes more. Then I rush for Sára to the kindergarten, then we rush home, to do the housework, dinner, bath, sleep. Life just passes by, and I can’t enjoy it. I can’t play with my daughter, because we do not have time, or we are too tired in the evenings. I don’t want her to grow up like this.

I want to be able to do what I like, do it from home, be my own boss, have time to live my life, go out with my husband, have fun with each other more often, and – just simply be happy.

And I’m determined this time. I shall do it. No matter how hard it will be. I’m on the way, and I will not let anyone stop me, or make me uncertain in what I envisioned.

OK, I said what I wanted to say. Sorry if I was a bit off topic. But knitting is one of the things I would love to do, full time, so it is quite related.

I just couldn’t help it again. That thing called. The thing called The Caftan Pullover. I have so many things to do and finish before I should even thinking about touching anything else, but…. you know how these things work. It is like when the Chocolate calls your name in the supermarket. You just happily turn your head, and reach out for it.

The same thing happened yesterday with this pullover. I swear I heard my name from my knitting basket. It might be because this is the first project I make with the yarn recommended, and it makes me more excited. And this yarn is beautiful! Such a great stich definition, beautiful hand, and that drape! Yay! A very expensive way of having fun, but – hell, I deserve it.

And yesterday I deserved it well enough. Finally – and after a bad, bad argument – I handed my notice to quit to my bitchy boss.

And guess what happened at the end of that same day. She asked me in, and told me confidentially that she is going to leave too, before the end of the year. And because it would be too much effort to find a new PA until then, and for such a short period of time, is it possible that we can work together for the rest of the time? Now what could I say?
I said until I can’t find anything better, I will stay, but as soon there is an opportunity, I will leave.

I felt so exhausted when I got home, and you agree that my brain needed some calming balm. And this knitting was it. Made me totally happy just to see how fast it went, and how even the stitches look. And I love that cool, silky feel on my hands. I can’t wait to finish it and wear it, and I pray it would look nice on me.

I highly recommend this yarn, and this pattern for all those suffering from a bitchy boss.

If only I could get my hands on Norah Gaughan’s new booklets from Berroco! I would possibly go into her office, knock her to the wall with her table, and tell her exactly what to do instead of pestering the poor, hard working women in the laboratory.

Then I would go home, singing, and knitting away.
